The Five Senses of Havdalah
Intro:
The Havdalah ceremony is one of the few Jewish rituals that intentionally engages all five senses:
-
We see the candlelight
-
We smell the spices
-
We taste the wine
-
We hear the blessings and melodies
-
We touch the ritual items
This sensory experience is what makes Havdalah so memorable and emotional.
To build on this foundation, we’ve created five corresponding engagement projects—each inspired by one of the senses. These projects invite participants to interact with the ritual in new, creative, and community-driven ways.
